The Crisis

The Present Emergency

We are in a pervasive planetary process of ecological collapse. Many scientists have concluded that we have an extremely short window in which to stop or even slow the free-fall of Earth’s sixth mass extinction. Since we human beings are inherently of one substance with Nature, our own survival is at stake no less than that of the smallest insects.

Statistics vary, but it’s clear that species are being eliminated from our biosphere at breathtaking rates for many reasons including: changing climate, degradation of soil, pollution of water and air by industrial and agricultural practices, colonialism, extractive economies, the “explosion” of our human populations diminishing species’ habitats. These factors also exacerbate natural disasters and the prevalence of infectious diseases.

Many “tipping-points” have already tipped.
